Trying to teach location in trapping is a very hard thing to teach. Experience is the best teacher but here are some points of interest to think about. All animals must drink water. Trapping water edges are all most always great locations. Where you have terrain that abruptly changes from open country to wooded areas. Were tall grass meets short grass. Any off road trails or roads. are also great locations. Big draws and valleys right down the middles and tops along the edges of them are great locations. The points were any of the above come in contact with each other are also heavy travel routes for animals as well. But experience is the best teacher and nothing will ever beat scouting and area. This should give you some areas for thought that you can see if there is sign present at these locations first. It is better than wondering around and guessing. If you have differnt locations post them so the young trappers have a place to start there adventure.
Yes I agree there. Also another area is old logging roads, sandy dirt roads and such. Coyotes seem to be a kinda CLEAN animal that likes to do its business on the road or whatever. 9 times out of 10 , I see the droppings right in the middle of the road that tells me that these animals love o run the roads. Maybe a dirt hole or flat set just barely off the road would produce HUGE rewards.

at least you have some kind of road..lmao..all mine are thick heavy long hills to climb, but i do have to admit i do have a few cut overs.thats were i get them sneaky cats at.all my yotes come from the thick woody areas.I have yet to catch a yote from the cut overs but they are there because of the tracks, but my problem is the cats tye my sets up.but thats not a problem here.not by a long shot
tommy if any thing happens to me call dee because i want bug to have all my trapping and lure formation gear
Yeah Bill for the money aspect, we will take a cat anyday over a cheap paying coyote. I know places in Bama that need to be hit hard just to CONTROL the coyote population. I have seen places at my dads place (hunting club) that showed signs of serious coyote predation , with no fox or cat tracks. Thats why I shoot every one I see deer hunting. They have attcked a friends dogs, cats, killed his goats and wreaked havoc on his chickens. KABOOM!!!
